### More Than a Game: The Heartbeat of Zion Football Club
On rocks and dust, as sports lovers and community dwellers look over the pitch at Blacktom Town, a familiar ritual unfolds. In a little city blessed by God, kit bags are hoisted over shoulders, and the distant thud of a ball and the sounds of whistles echo through the dust. This is a training day for Zion Football Club, a grassroots football club that has become far more than just a team—it is the beating heart of a community and the home of warriors.
Founded in 2013 by J. Raymond Alpha for a group of angry youngsters tired of being denied the opportunity to showcase their talents in front of their parents, Zion Football Club began with little more than eleven mismatched shirts, a few slightly deflated balls, and a shared dream. The founder, J. Raymond Alpha, pooled his little resources to register with the Liberia Football Association. The first season was a hit in the best possible way—we won our first three games but were unable to win the silverware. Today, the club boasts players who have made the Senior National Team (the Lone Star) and several others in top teams participating in the Liberia Football League.
We are passionate, as we have been since 2013. We cannot be hidden, and though we might get defeated sometimes, our spirit can never be defeated. We are Zion Football Club.
